I took this photo at the end of the runway to Kristiansand Airport in the south of Norway.Time
It was a little past mid-day. The sun was low because it was the middle of winter. A harsh period of winter had passed a week before.Lighting
The sun was low and warm. I could feel the warmth of the sun on the back of my legs as I framed the shot. I imagined how the tree felt standing in that warm sun. The sun appeared to cast a yellow hue down onto the land to.Equipment
My old Canon Eos 4 and no tripod. But I had to stand in a dramatic stance to get the shot balanced.Inspiration
The sun, the silent runway, the sky, the calm water and the lonesome tree that must have felt good at that point.Editing
There was some retouching as there was some small bits of ice floating around still. I enhanced the orange posts in the distance a little. And I had to colour balance the image to get the right colour depth and hue to how I thought best.In my camera bag
My only Canon Eos 4, with 2 lenses. I have a UV filter an old macro-lens to. My dad has just loaned me his Canon Eos 55d for a while. I can't wait to get some pictures uploaded to Viewbug when I get a chance.Feedback
People were just walking past this tree whilst looking at the swans and it was overlooked. Even without a camera I would have stopped and just looked at the tree for a while. So, I guess all the advice I have is have the camera at hand as often as possible, and don't look where everybody else is looking.
