Beautiful, multi-colored tile mosaics shine in the natural light inside the Blue Mosque, Istanbul, Turkey.
Indirect sunlight through heavy overcast skies give a softened glow to the brilliantly colored Damascus tile pieces.
Architecturally, the high vaulted ceilings are many stories tall, capped with domes on top of arches. In keeping with Muslim custom, no images of life are allowed, only series of geometric designs.
