The photo was taken in Sydney Australia at Taronga Zoological Park back in 2013.Time
I was on a family visit to Australia and had the day to myself. Hopped onto the ferry and went to the zoological park. This is one of my favourite images taken that day, the park had not long opened so it would have been late morning when I took the shot.Lighting
A perfect shot with the lighting, luckily for me the tree gave both the shade and shadow I needed. I am a self taught amateur photographer and not very technically minded.Equipment
The camera used in this shot was a Panasonic Lumix TZ30, (Point and Shoot), hand held. Photo details F/5.8, Exposure 1/320sec, ISO100 and Focal length 47m.Inspiration
I was watching some kangaroo's when I heard a noise from above, saw the bird (at that time did not know what it was), I took a couple of steps back and took the shot. I took about 4 shots of him and while doing this another visitor to the zoo told me it was a Kookaburra. A very lucky shot literally point and shoot! One of my all time favourite shots.Editing
I am not one to post edit photo's very much, so I would have cropped and straightened, added a more little exposure possibly, added my water mark and that would have been it.In my camera bag
At the time of this shot I only owned the Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ30. I soon fell in love with other cameras and their capability, so now in my Camera bag I have an interchangeable Panasonic Lumix G3 with 14 - 42mm, 45 - 200mm and 100 - 300mm lenses. A blue lens filter, spare batteries for each camera, note pad, pencil and money for a coffee. New to the bag Panasonic Lumix DC FZ82 bridge camera. Always in my handbag my trusty point and shoot which is now a Panasonic Lumix TZ70. Yes I am a Panasonic Lumix fan.Feedback
Be patient! Mother Nature has a way of bringing a shot to you, be prepared and enjoy your camera.
