Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken around the back of some restaurants in Southampton, UK

Time

It was taken early evening, just before the dinner rush began and people flooded the streets!

Lighting

The sunset was hitting the wall perfectly and just immediately drew me in to this door, I couldn’t help but capture it on camera

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon 5D, an 18-55mm lens, all natural lighting

Inspiration

I’ve always had a fascination with older things, be it places that we have forgotten, objects the land has taken back, or just old and discarded items. The way the back of this building was so different in comparison to the well kept front was beautiful to me and something I wanted to remember.

Editing

Other than slightly boosting the contrast of the photo no other post production was done

In my camera bag

Unless I’m planning on a specific type of photo shoot, I tend to keep my equipment bag small, a small reflector, Canon 5D body, and a 18-55mm lens

Feedback

Be patient. Don’t try and rush the photo, you want to make sure that the lighting, and frame of the picture is just as you want it. Take multiple shots, try different angles. Mostly, make sure it’s something you’re interested in and have fun with it.
