Behind The Lens

Location

In my bed, with my fat diabetic cat Sal, sitting on me.

Time

At night. After dinner, right before bed. The night was winding down and Sal as he likes to do was sitting right on my chest and as close to my face as possible.

Lighting

The flash from my camera made him so squinty, and there was probably light from my tv. The room was mostly dark though.

Equipment

A samsung galaxy s3. With the flash from the phone.

Inspiration

He was in my face and I was messing with the camera on my phone. I have 4 cats so I am always taking pictures of them. Just a random lucky shot that came out cool.

Editing

All post editing was done on my phone. I put a black and white filter on the picture because Sal is an all grey russian blue and the filter made him pop but the background darker. I also adjust the contrast and sharpness a little to bring out the fur and whiskers.

In my camera bag

I am very new to photography so i am paying off my first real camera which is a minolta srt 102. Then i also always have my phone on me for those random moments.

Feedback

Take pictures of whats special to you. The whole point of photography to me, is to show the world through the photographers eyes and everybody sees the world in different way. That is what makes photography so personal, being able to show people my point of view whether it be my cats, or nature on a hike, or whatever it is, its a glimpse at life through my eyes. Also take pictures with what you have whether it be a high end setup or just a camera on your phone. I just recently got a film camera this past year and have grown to enjoy all that is involved with it, such as the anticipation of a finished roll of film. However I am grateful for technology and whats available on our phones and have been able to capture a lot of really cool moments with my phone.
