Behind The Lens

Location

Ft. Stevens State Park.

Time

Mid-Day

Lighting

The light was bouncing in from outside, providing a warm, pleasing light.

Equipment

Fujifilm Finepix S8200 with tripod

Inspiration

I thought the scene was beautiful, especially seeing how the building looks long and forgotten. It was a Battery and the thought of soldiers in combat there can be thought-provoking.

Editing

Yes! I merged 5 photos into a single HDR via Cyberlink Photodirector 6 Ultra. I then boosted saturation, and sharpness.

In my camera bag

Camera (Canon 70D now), an 18-55mm kit lens, 55-250mm IS STM, two extra batteries, SD Card Reader, and a microfiber cloth.

Feedback

Take your time, look for good light, and try to tell a story. I know that is stereotypical of all photographers, but it is nonetheless true. Just seeing something cool is one thing, but trying to capture it in the form of a single photo can be challenging. Taking the photo is half the battle; making it into something the viewer loves is the other (and sometimes harder) half.
