Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken in my backyard.I feed the birds regularly and am rewarded with great photo opportunities.

Time

I caught this jay around 7 am when the light was great.

Lighting

Just after sunrise gives a special light.

Equipment

Canon 6D, 70-300 mm L series canon lens hand held.

Inspiration

I call this "You Again" as the birds were starting to treat me like papparazzi. I was thrilled to catch him in the morning light with that look in his eye.

Editing

I only crop and sometimes saturate but not this time.

In my camera bag

I travel light. extra battery and smaller lens but I shoot almost exclusively with my 70- 300mm lens.Cleaning cloth, cleaning brush, filters.

Feedback

When taking pictures of birds- getting them used to your being around helps to catch a more relaxed pose. I once balanced on a step ladder for 20 minutes to catch the perfect American goldfinch shot.
