Location
This shot was taken on my lunch break on one of my regular walks through the Queen Victoria Gardens. This is only about 1km from the hustle and bustle of Melbournes City Centre. It was more a case of good luck and timing to capture this as it was totally spur of the moment and unplanned.Time
Taken around 1:30pm in the middle of the day. The ducks had been swimming in the pond and had just jumped out to sit on the low stone wall to dry off when this one flapped its wings to shake off excess water. A lucky catch.Lighting
I edited this shot in Lightroom to try to bring out the texture of the feathers and also used a Nik Collection filter for the colours.Equipment
Used my Canon 6D to take this with a Tamron 70-200 F2.8, hand held with no flashInspiration
I've walked past this little pond many times before and not taken too much notice, but this day the ducks were paddling around and just happened to jump out of the water as I was walking past so I took a few shots not thinking too much more about it. It was only when I got home and downloaded the shots that I noticed the magic of this one so took a bit of time editing it in post.Editing
Basic lightoom 5 adjustments for highlights, shadows and clarity and then took the image into Color FX Pro to adjust the colours to get the orange lightness. In my camera bag
I always have my Canon 6D with the Tamron 70-200 F2.8 attached and ready to shoot, there is also my trusty Canon 50mm F1.4 and a Canon 17-40 F4.0 wide angle. This is usually used for Architectural and city laneway shots.Feedback
