Location
Photo was taken in the city of Vinkovci, Croatia. Croatia is my home country. We went to an unused part of railroad track with an old wagon car just waiting to be played on. It was also fun to see the engineers on working wagons slow down and watch us have fun. I am self taught so besides every photoshoot being a learning moment, this is very meaningful to me that a pro shows interest in my shot.Time
I thought the sun provided beautiful color so we shot this about 5pm in October.Lighting
It was a gorgeous day. So the plan was all natural lighting. I think it worked well.Equipment
I shoot with a Canon 60D. No tripod No flash 200mm lenseInspiration
#1 I wanted to do at least one photoshoot in Croatia #2 My favorite model, my niece. Once I asked her, she couldn't wait to go do the photoshoot. #3 In Croatia, the railroad is still used for travel & frait. As they implement new cars and rails the old stuff is sitting there and it's gorgeous. It was a perfect opportunity.Editing
This was shot raw. In this particular image I do not believe I did any retouching. It was a perfect day and this shot was in a perfect spot. I did crop the image. In my camera bag
Canon body. The lens is usually a Canon 85 mm prime, cuz it's easy and I love my 200 millimeter. I carry a backup Canon, old Rebel, my first digital. I love it I'll never give it up as long as it's working. I like simplicity so I carry as little as possible, only what I need, depending on my situation.Feedback
My advice would be... make sure you pick the right time, dusk, dawn are usually best. There's also overcast.... If you're just starting, then go out and test your lighting & play, then play some more, get a friend to help you play until you are comfortable. If you're comfortable you can make your model comfortable. Slow down. Smiling will help you relax, which will help your client relax also. The rest will come easy.
