Location
This photo was taken after a series of wrong turns in rural Iowa. I was running late, but as I drove past an old barn, they always deserve a look, I caught a glimpse of this abandoned beauty. I couldn't leave without capturing its timeless grace.Time
I took this photo late in the afternoon with less than perfect lighting. Luckily the subject matter made up for my inexperience.Lighting
Lighting is very important, but you can make a shot using less than perfect lighting by creative angles or ND filters. My advice is to take your time with the subject.Equipment
I was shooting with a Cannon 6D this day, I shot a entire series of Iowa barns and rural decay photos off hand, using a tamrin 28-200 mm lenses. I try to keep my equipment to a minimum because I travel a lot. I have recently learned the value of a good tripod while shoot in low light.Inspiration
The whole world is moving so fast and I would like to think that photos like this could cause someone to pause and think about a time that moved a different pace, with defferent ideals.Editing
I rarely do any post processing with my photos. I don't have anything against it, I actually love seeing the technology, but I prefer to focus on using the camera to capture the image the way I see it.In my camera bag
My backpack always has my 6D, Tamron 200mm lense, 100mm prime and various ND filters.Feedback
My advice to anyone interested in photography is learn your camera and always find time to use it.
