I took this photo from the Ferry station the first time I came to NY, on cold and windy Christmas-time day. The way the seagull was staring at me amazed me, it looked like he was watching me, telling me a story. A story of somebody looking for a place to call home. We all are migratory birds, aren't we?Time
I remember it was around noon, a cold, grey but still serene winter day. Not the best hour the take a picture, but this things don't wait! That kind of moody day you feel to look at the world with your own eyes, your feelings and all you have inside of you.Lighting
I loved the natural light and the movement fo the clouds. Somehow, the sky and the water were of an amazing, sad and matching color.Equipment
I shot this pic with the reflex I always use, a Panasonic GH3, and the Panasonic Lumix G Zoom Ultra , 14-140 mm, F3.5-5.6. It's a great lens for last minute shots, when you just don't feel to carry that much of equipment but still want to be prepared to catch the moment, if it comes!Inspiration
The way the seagull was staring at me amazed me, it looked like he was watching me. And, in the background, so far, Lady liberty was looking away from us. The seagull to me meant what we sometimes do. We turn ur back to what we cannot have, and look for something else that makes us free.Editing
There's no post processing, I don't even have Photoshop and I have absolutely no idea on how to use it. I'm a purist by ignorance :)In my camera bag
I usually have my Panasonic GH3, and the Panasonic Lumix G Zoom Ultra , 14-140 mm, F3.5-5.6. It's a nice lens when you need to be light but you also want to be free to capture differnt things at different distance. I also like to use the Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f/1.1 Lens. Not exactly an 'easy lens', but still, the depth it gives to portatrits is amazing.Feedback
