I love the way fire burns. It twists and turns and glows and lives. So much destructive power kept in a small container.Equipment
I shot this particular image handheld with a Nikon d610Inspiration
Fire is amazing, fire is hypnotic and mysterious.Editing
A very important part of this image was too drop the highlights. That brings detail to the over exposed light, and you can see every twist and turn. Of course there was contrast added but not to much because subtlety is key. also increasing the dark (making it darker so that everything but the fire is black. Then offsetting the blacks gives it an organic feel.In my camera bag
always Nikon d610, with a 50mm prime, 24-80, and 70-200. I usually carry two flashes but only use them sometimes.Feedback
Again subtlety is a major key, don't blast your images learn what too much saturation and contrast is. Notice your framing, the heat is right in the middle and everything around it is black, it doesn't go off screen. Don't be afraid to crop, but the more you mess up the more you will remember too fix it while your shooting.
