This photo was taken in Savuti - Botswana Sept 2013Time
It was mid afternoon - siesta time for this young fishing leopard.Lighting
We were parked up under this tree a favourite place for this young leopard - which meant the natural lighting was not as harsh. The day time lighting generally in Savuti during the day is extremely harsh with heat shimmering.Equipment
I took this particular photo with my old Canon Powershot G7, leaning up against the land cruiser.Inspiration
This young leopard looked so peaceful napping in this tree - it was a photo just begging to be taken.Editing
Very basic, If I recallIn my camera bag
I used this Canon G7 until it died on me, too much sand and grit so it has been replaced with a bridging camera for my birding photographing. These days I generally use my Canon Powershot Sx 50 HS, I have an Eos E40, but it is too heavy. Tripod is also an essential tool.Feedback
I was lucky with this shot as Legend safari guide Lloyd Wilmott now retired knows Savuti extremely well and is always prepared to push the boundaries in order to get up really close to the animals. It is not always about having a fancy camera but having a good eye for the photo composition i think is key!
