An extended exposure at the edges of sunset. One of my favorites from the shoot that day.

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at White River Lake in West Texa.

Time

Sunset

Lighting

I wanted a long exposure that would give the water a slick, glossy look. It took some work to get the exposure and shutter speed to where the needed to be to get what I wanted.

Equipment

All I used was a Nikon D7200 with a Nikkor 24-70 f2.8 lens, and a rock near the edge of the water.

Inspiration

I'm not really sure. It was just something I wanted to try.

Editing

I used Lightroom to slightly alter the lighting, shadows, and the colors to bring the photo closer to what I was seeing through my own eyes.

In my camera bag

My D7200 body, my 24-70 lens, and my 18-140 kit lens.

Feedback

Long exposures are best taken with a delayed shutter. It allows you to take your hands off the camera avoiding shake, allowing you to get a clean focused picture.
