Location
This photo was taken in Irvine, North Ayrshire on the West Coast of Scotland. Facing to the west and with the view towards the Island of Arran, if you time it right you can capture a truly stunning sunset.Time
I was out with the family for the day further up the cost and could see the sunset developing with an orange hew in the sky. I knew I had limited time to make it to Irvine which I knew was a good vantage point for taking a photo of this. I made it at around 5pm and was able to grab my camera and find a good location. The sailing boat passing at that moment was perfect timing and really helped set the mood.Lighting
The lighting was very much as nature provided. The silhouette of the boat and the glow around the island were all natural and helped capture the moment.Equipment
This was early in my photography journey and used a Fuji Finepix S9600 camera without any other equipment.Inspiration
I always grew up around the coast in Scotland and it was only when I moved away that I learned how much I had been taking these views for granted all that time. I learned to truly appreciate them and when returning to visit family, I always have my camera with me. I always look out for right place, right time' type moments to be able to capture and share, with each one also providing for myself memories of the day. This day was a great day with the family and the sunset in the picture was very calming at the end of the day.Editing
There was no post-processing done on the picture, This was just as it was taken. In my camera bag
Having spent more time with photography, I now tend to have my Canon EOS 760D, with 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses. I often have a flash head with me, though don't often use it. ND filters are also in the bag for when these are appropriate. In addition, I take photography using my drone, which until this week was a Mavic Pro, now also joined by a Mavic Mini 2 and Mavic 2 Pro, both also with ND filters. Of course a full size and Mini tripod are essential, particularly to be able to use Remote Wi-Fi shooting for either moon pictures or other appropriate occasions.Feedback
Take your camera. You never know when you will come across a situation that has lined itself up perfectly for you to capture. Don't always use 'Auto' for your camera setting, you might miss some amazing detail. Lightroom is fantastic for post processing of images. It can really make the subject matter of your photo's come to life.
