Behind The Lens
Location
Carlton gardens in Melbourne Australia. The main building is the Melbourne Museum designed by DCM Architecture. The building on the left is the Royal Exhibition building, birth place of white Australia's federation in 1901.Time
Honestly I cannot recall, I said after 9pm local time.Lighting
I've always loved the cantilevered entry loggia structure of this building, the lightning makes it look like a wine glass.Equipment
Sony A7 and I believe its either an 18mm Zeiss Contax or the 10-18 Sony crop lens. Tripod is a three legged thing - Brian. I don't usually add the gear detail, believe its not about gear but the final image.Inspiration
The building. Its a landmark piece of Architecture and facility for Melbourne town. As mentioned above the loggia entry canopy is a highlight, it tends to float and memorise with the sense of scale.Editing
Yes, Lightroom edit.In my camera bag
Everyday I carry my little Contax 139 Quartz around shooting street to and from work. Otherwise, for a dedicated shoot or personal project its the A7 & A7r11 with as assortment of Contax manual prime lenses and lets not forget the 17mm Canon TSE. A tripod, cable release, batteries and ND filters.Feedback
Scout the location for a good perspective view or interesting angle. I tried a variety or view point before settling here. I visualise a building as a render, this generally informs the composition. Just go out, experiment and don't get hung up on f-stops, equipment etc, just enjoy the process of creating.
