We were on holiday in Western Australia, travelling along the ocean road between Prevelly and Bonranup, when we saw a tourist sign ‘Cave Lake’ so we went - that’s what we were there for after all..... It is lucky this photo even exists as I am not a fan of heights - most call it a phobia, my husband looks on it as a comical moments - anyway to get to Lake Cave you have to descend down a very long flight of narrow open steps - it took a while but I got there, likewise for the trip back up - I’m too bloody nosy to miss out and postcards / photos I’d seen of the place looked great.....Time
It was a number of years ago but, from memory, it was the morning tour - hell I was too busy talking myself into the fact that the stairs were safe to take note of the time.Lighting
Now you must realise I am strictly amateur when it comes to taking photos and am just learning about these things - no manual settings just auto trial and error - this just worked..... Besides there wasn’t much option when it came to the lighting - the guide adjusted the cave lighting during the tour....Equipment
Just my Canon EOS 500D and my 18-55 lens..... I remember having to stand so still for a couple of seconds because my camera was on auto settings and the shutter speed was so slow.....Inspiration
I’d seen the postcards of the Cave in several shops along the road and thought, if we went, I’d buy one to post to my Dad - I didn’t have to - I sent him a photo book of our whole trip which he loved.Editing
Not really, may be a minor colour adjustment but otherwise.....In my camera bag
Besides the camera, there’s a 10-18 wide angle lens, a 18-55 lens and a 55-250 lens, a tripod and a remote shutter release are new additions.Feedback
Use a tripod and a remote shutter release if you have one - it’s difficult to stay still for the length of time required, for the shutter speed, in dimly lit situations - it takes a few shots......
