Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at a small nature reserve in Godstone, Surrey. It was a day out with my mum and her partner, I remember being over the moon when I captured this cheeky fox.

Time

I managed to capture this shot at around mid-day, I remember being surprised to see this friendly little guy out and about so early in the day!

Lighting

Nature really did all the work for me here, I just pulled out my camera and snapped the shot!

Equipment

This was taken on a Nikon camera, I can’t remember the exact make now as it was borrowed from my dad at the time.

Inspiration

I thought that the fox looked very natural and at home on the grass, he didn’t seem to mind me getting close and so I thought it would be nice to get a photograph. He clearly liked the camera and gave me his best pose!

Editing

I didn’t really do much to this photo in post processing, added a little bit of vibrancy and sharpness. This handsome guy didn’t need any help.

In my camera bag

Now days, I normally carry round a Canon 6D mk ii, with a 50-105mm lens and a 35mm lens.

Feedback

This type of shot really is luck of the draw, he could have run away as I hit the shutter or turned away. I was lucky enough that he wanted to show me his best side, but really it’s about being patient and waiting for the right time for the perfect shot.
