Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my own back yard. Even though I have been into photography for years I don't usually get much time to simply stop and look at the beauty around me.

Time

I noticed this rose bud while enjoying my coffee at around 8 am. The bud was so new, so beautiful. When I saw it I remember thinking, "Everyday is a new day, embrace it".

Lighting

I prefer natural lighting. If my eye catches something that I think is beautiful I want to show the world what I saw, not a photo that has been manipulated to within an inch of its life.

Equipment

I'm still using my old beginners Cannon camera with its original lens. I'm not experienced nor do I have a ton of equipment I simply see beauty and photograph it.

Inspiration

New life, even when it seems small, is worth taking the time to stop. When you stop and remember that every day is a gift and a new beginning it helps to keep your life in perspective.

Editing

It wasn't necessary to touch up this photo. I made sure to focus on the bud while having the background faded.

In my camera bag

I only ever have my original Cannon camera I got as a gift 6 years ago. It still has the original lens on it. If I can't get close enough to what I want to capture I find it a fun challenge to get as close as I dare without disturbing it, especially when I am taking phots of animals.

Feedback

Just keep your eyes open. I know it can be hard with all that life throws' at us but simply stop for a moment and look around, there is always something that will catch your eye.
