Playful friend

I photographed this butterfly while on a camping trip to Busselton in south west WA earlier this year. People often say that butterflies appear when death is near. This gorgeous creature danced around me for at least 5 minutes while I tried to photograph it in broad daylight with the sun in front of me. A mean feat! I have nearly really paid much attention to butterflies but this one captivated me. A week after this encounter I received news of my dear nanna's sudden death. It was the first of many butterfly encounters to follow. While there is nothing outstanding about this photo, the butterflies playfulness will always evoke a strong memory of my Nana who loved a good laugh and who was herself playful by nature. Nowadays butterflies everywhere charm me. RIP Nonna xx
