Location
I love to take photo of lightning. So I check a website of weather forecast when it seems to be going to rain. When I took this, I found a major thunder storm approaching to the far side of a bay. So I was waiting for it near side of the bay. The luckiest thing is that the cloud was moving only above the far side; never came close to my side and I and my camera did not get wet at all.Time

I always choose a place where there is no bright light in between the lightning and me.Equipment

Good to open the shutter for 10-20 seconds over and over again without any intervals. If there is a lightning while shutter is not open, you will surely regret it. If you have no remote controller, also good to use 2-seconds timer with the shutter speed fixed.
