Location
The photo was taken on Aruba; utmost north-east point of the island. I was visiting the lighthouse and saw the waves breaking on the rocky coast and decided to take a closer look.Time
As it was almost sunset I was looking for a shot to have the breaking wave shine through the drops. The angle however did not cooperate.This was an earlier "exercise"shot taken on 17.45 hrs on september 23 2015. After three shots to time the explosion this is the one with the best effect. there were no higher waves.Lighting
The sun stood low(almost horizontal) in line with the direction of the branches giving it a more dramatic appearance. This gives a nice look at the structure between rock and wood as you zoom in.Equipment
The camera is the simple KODAK EASYSHARE Camera, C1550 set on all automatic. I layed down on my belly to get a good contrast between the white drops and the dark blue sea. I supported the camera with my elbows.Inspiration
As I came from the lighthouse which worked as a baken I saw this as a smaller warning for seamen. I saw a figure with a lot of arms directing them in the right direction.Editing
I rotated the picture 1 degree to get it horizontal.In my camera bag
I normally work with a fuji finepix 9600. But it was dropped by a friend locking the lens so I had to do some improvisations.Feedback
First you need a big imagination to see people and things in nature that refer to a live experience. Than very important is the angle you shoot from and the height position of the camera to get the best results. Than comes the timing based on the anticipation of the greatest impact.
