Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was shot in my hometown Sioux Falls SD. I am a self-taught photographer so lots of my photos tend to be just new lessons I learn

Time

This photo was taken around mid afternoon in late march. It was a beautiful day slightly chilly out but totally worth the walk on the tracks to get.

Lighting

All my photos tend to be natural lighting. Very rarely do I set up lighting or anything like that. I like the natural looks that it gives.

Equipment

I used my new Sony a7ii with a 24-70mm lens. I had nothing else just me and my camera.

Inspiration

The inspiration I got for this photo is that I just love traveling. Any way possible and just exploring different areas. So just exploring the tracks and being able to get that photo to represent the travel without the train I just thought it was cool.

Editing

For this photo, my post processing was basically coloring it in a way that captured the beauty of it. I went with the cooler cold look for it because it brings in the fact of the actual temperature it was that day. Then I just do basic adjustments with contrast blacks and whites and clarity.

In my camera bag

The first thing I always pack is my sony a7ii with the 24-70mm. After that, i make sure to have the extra batteries needed to last. I also tend to have a GoPro with me at all times. I also pack a ring light that attaches to end of my lens just in case. I rarely use it but it is the just good reassurance to have it. I also pack a mic with me because I do videos as well and sometimes I vlog my adventures. I always make sure to pack my MacBook pro and power cord as well to be able to do editing on the go.

Feedback

To capture something similar I say just find train track and follow see what you find. Then just get low on your shot and edit it in the way that fits your style!
