I went out to my local Mountain Bike track on the weekend as they had an endurance race on. This is a part of the track that is straight and downhill where the riders gain a lot of speed. I slowed my shutter to 1-100s and panned along with the rider as he went racing down the track. My camera metered on the bright background and made the rider and trees into silhouette.
