One of the wonderful things about living in the Port Townsend, Washington area is that when you live close to the Puget Sound, you don't have to spend money on a snow shovel or an air conditioner. A short drive into the Olympic National Forest or the Olympic National Park, and a few thousand feet up, you can be right in the midst of as much winter as you can stand. A storm was approaching from the south one day while I was up there, but the sun was still shining brilliantly where I was.
