Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at a local beer/pizza restaurant where they sell amazing unique craft beers and some interesting pizzas.

Time

I took this one after an intense field hockey practice, we would usually go to the clubhouse bar, but this time decided to head to "Banana Jam", a little before 10pm.

Lighting

Everything natural-ish. No flash, just the standard lighting from the restaurant, I don't like synthetic and prefer to try and bring as much of the vibe behind the photo to the viewer.

Equipment

My cellphone camera. Plain and simple. At that time I only had a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and no DSLR yet, but that camera helped keep my keenness to delve deeper into photography.

Inspiration

Beer. I love beer. I loved the setting this created, the energy drink contrasting the relaxing of the beer, and my brothers face, probably just like mine, the keen giddiness of a fresh craft beer from a local brewery too.

Editing

I think I just converted it to black and white since there was a fair bit of noise, other than that, I don't think I even loaded this into Photoshop

In my camera bag

Back then it was my phone. These days I have an EOS 1300D, normally with a 50mm f/1.8 lens on, but then I'll have my kit 18-55mm and a 70-300mm as backup. Then there's a mini tripod, numerous backup cards, a power bank, and sometimes an LED floodlight

Feedback

Snap candidly. There's nothing like a random snap when someone least expects it, that you are able to capture feeling.
