Behind The Lens
Location
This picture was taken at Picnic Point in Mukilteo, WA during a ebb and flow between sun and storm.Time
Hooper my best fuzzy buddy, my kids and I headed to the beach for a day of sunshine...but this is WA, so you never really know how the weather will behave. Hooper didn't care though! Anytime near a body of water is swim time! This was taken around 2 pm.Lighting
The flux between sun and storm really made for some dramatic lighting. I wasn't trying for anything special except for the sweet look on Hooper's face after a fun day.Equipment
I used my Canon Rebel T5 with the 18-55mm kit lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
Nothing but Hooper's expressive face and my love for him inspired this spontaneous picture.Editing
Thus wasn't processed much. I adjusted the contrast and the white balance, then I increased the sharpness so one could see the definition in his wind blown fur and sandy nose. Hoppers cute doesn't need much help ;)In my camera bag
I don't have much compared to most photographers. I never leave the house without my Canon Rebel T5, the 18-55mm and 75-300 kit lenses, and my baby...my Tokina 11-16mm. The thrift store score Samsonite tripod usually comes along as well. Wether setting off for the beach or just dropping the kids off at school I ALWAYS have my camera. You just never know when that great shot will appear!Feedback
Always be prepared! Bring your camera and prepare for any weather! Oh, and sun or rain, ALWAYS keep a plastic bag secured with rubber bands around your camera. Sand and water are the #1 enemy of my cameras. Also a UV filter will protect your lens from blowing debris. Getting down to eye level with your subject gives a perspective that I really enjoy. Above all don't stress, be safe and have fun!!!
