This was shot at about 1:00pm surprisingly!

Lighting

We showed up and the train came within 5 minutes. It was incredible. They say it comes every 1.5hrs or so. This is my all-time favorite photo. My dad is a locomotive engineer and my brother is a conductor.

Equipment

Canon 5d Mark iii and a 24-105mm lens.

Inspiration

Canada's beauty and my obsession with trains since my dad started working at Union Pacific 20 some years ago.

Editing

I post processed using my own custom presets in LR. I brushed the sky a little to bring back the proper exposure.

In my camera bag

5d mark iii. 6d. 24L 1.4 lens. 50mm 1.4 lens. 24-105mm 4.0 lens. Leica D-Lux 109. lots of memory cards and batteries!

Feedback

Timing is key for landscape photos. Make sure you're tracking the sun properly and a little luck for not having to wait!
