Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken, if i remember correctly at Slaon Lake in Denver, CO

Time

I know we had started shooting at about 3 in the afternoon. I think this was one of the first shots that we took.

Lighting

Nothing really worth sharing about lighting. Any time shooting kids, I try to keep to natural lighting because it is one less thing you have to worry about besides getting those little people to have fun and smile.

Equipment

This shot was with an Old Nikon D300 with a 50mm Nikon Lens. Was a simple and easy sunny Sunday afternoon.

Inspiration

My wife inspired me to take this photo. By inspired i mean, she said we are doing fall photos of our family today. I started out with some posing shots with my wife and my 1 year old son, but it eventually lead to me putting him down in a pile of leaves. He started playing with the leaves around him, so I had my wife start dropping a few on him.

Editing

None

In my camera bag

Depends on the day and what I forget at home. Any one of the Nikon cameras I have. Usually at least my 35mm or 50mm lens, unless i need some of my bigger lenses, a flash and that's about it.

Feedback

Patience, patience, patience....any time shooting with kids, it is all about patience. Some days, they might be happy and you have a great day shooting, others might be a bad nap day and they are not having any of it. On those days you just say, ok we are done and try it again some other time.
