Behind The Lens

Location

I love watching birds in my free time. I love photograpy. I was just watching the birds fly around on a cold day when I saw this chickadee perching at the tip of a branch, The background colors matching with bird colors made an intresting photo.

Time

This photo was taken at daytime when the birds were busy trying to find food.

Lighting

I felt that the lighting behind the bird mimicked the colors on the bird's feathers.

Equipment

This was shot from a Nikon D7100 with 18-300MM lens

Inspiration

I loved the color play of the nature around the bird with the colors of the brid feather. The background lighted up made for a nice photo.

Editing

I just blurred some of the background in post processing

In my camera bag

I always travel with my NikonD7100 w/ 18-300 MM lens

Feedback

Bird photography is very time consuming and sometimes a bird might never stay still enough to be photographed. The best way to photograph them would be to be patient till they have eaten their fill, so that they are busy being the lookout guy for others. They also have a habit of sitting inside the branches , a lighting killer. So I usually keep 2 programmed functions on my camera. One with a high ISO and the other with a lower ISO so that I can turnt he dial at a moment's notice to take photos as needed.
