Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a movie theather. The model is one of my best friends and she used live above this place. The garage of her building had acess to one of the emergency exits of the theater. One day we asked the people that worked there to take some pictures while it was still closed and they let us use one of the rooms that were being cleaned. We had around one hour to take all the photos before we had to go for them to finish the cleaning and open the cinema.

Time

It was in the morning before the opening times of the movie theater, around 9 or 10. The guy that let us in was nice enough to let us shooting alone in there for about an hour.

Lighting

I couldn't call too much attention for this shooting because even though the people that worked there let us in to shoot, I don't know if the manager knew about it, and we couldn't give more ideas to other people to want to shoot there too, so we used the natural light coming from the emergency exit. The emergency exit leads you into the garage of my friend's building (which is kind of weird if you think about it), so we let the door open and the sun coming. It was nice because it gave a mysterious vibe to it since we only had that lateral light.

Equipment

It was shot on a Canon t5i and 30mm 1.4 lenses.

Inspiration

I love to go to the cinema and I've always wanted to shoot in a place like this. It's a place that changes every movie you watch and has a homey feel to it at the same time. Being able to capture a image in a place like this is very special to me. My friend had started dancing and I thought both arts could merge in one shoot, so I had her doing dance movements while I captured them.

Editing

Only color editing, no massive changes.

In my camera bag

Usually I have my camera and two lenses. Depends on the job I'm doing or what's the reason for the pictures. When I travel I always bring the Canon I use, My analog Canon A1 and a Polaroid, it's a heavy travel.

Feedback

Be prepared to not having too much time in a place like this, go with some references in your head and experiment!
