Location
This photo was captured in a field belonging to my neighbour. It was after some very heavy rain and the field had got flooded. The swans had made it their home for a couple of weeks.Time
I think this was taken late afternoon, around 4pm. It was a dark, overcast sort of day.Lighting
As it was dark and overcast, I had to increase my ISO.Equipment
Nikon D7100 and a 24-70mm 2.8 lens.Inspiration
Everytime I had gone past the field I had seen the swans and kept telling myself to grab my camera and go and capture them.Editing
Yes, there is a lot of work that has gone into this image. I initially copied the swan on the right. Then I flipped it and pasted it to the left. (The other swan in the field didnt want to pose for me !!) I then addedsome clouds which I had captured from another image, as I wanted to add a bit of atmosphere to the image. I then decided to mirror it into the water. I added a gradient map in layers and warmed the image up. All of which was achieved in Photoshop CC using layers and layer masks. In my camera bag
My bag has my D7100, and old D3100 as a back up. A 50mm 1.8, 70-200mm 4.0, 24-70mm 2.8, 12-24mm 4.0, 85mm 1.8, some filters and a SB800 speedflash. My remote trigger should be in there too but its gone walkabout!Feedback
This image for me is about composites and photo shop. I am completely self taught and by no means an expert. Get out there and keep shooting. Even the most mundane and boring object can become a piece of great art work. This only took me 15-20 minutes one morning to put together, which surprised me. I just keep experimenting and practicing until I get the outcome I like. Don't give up, keep at it!
