Behind The Lens

Location

The right half of this image was taken at Glenfinnan Viaduct, Scotland, also known as the 'Harry Potter Bridge'.

Time

It was the right time on the wrong day. I turned up the day after they changed the timetable from Summer to Autumn. It was 3.15pm and fortunately someone told me at a visitors centre. So, I was able to take my position and wait for the Jacobite steam train returning to Fort William.

Lighting

It was cloudy and I remember light rain coming down straight after the shot.

Equipment

I think it was taken with my Olympus TG 4. Nice waterproof camera.

Inspiration

I really wanted to get the shot from the film angle and have the engine front facing. I think it's now done to death but I love trains since a child.

Editing

The mirroring was done by the camera, I think. I wasn't too happy with the shot and decided to play around. When I looked at the effect, I though 'Wow!'. The bridge looked heart-shaped and I though this would promote Scotland as a beautiful place to visit.

In my camera bag

I was hiking, so generally camping equipment.
