The Olympic Peninsula of Washington is an absolutely gorgeous, seemingly wild part of the state about 3 hours drive from Seattle (or far less if you're smart and take the ferry). One day while sitting in Seattle, myself and some coworkers decided to take a day drive out to Olympic National Park, where the clouds hung heavy on the mountain peaks, making for a very foggy drive up Hurricane Ridge. Even with the dark grey skies looming overhead, it gave the Olympics this very sullen mood, with vast valleys between peaks showing softer detail beneath the trees and low light. As I was photographing the incredible view, I noticed this particular shot off to my left and down the road a bit, and decided I had to get a better view.
