Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Carver's Creek State Park in North Carolina. I love adventuring in new places!

Time

I remember the it was a gloomy day, but in the early afternoon, setting the mood right for this particular photo.

Lighting

With the sun hidden behind clouds, I used that to my advantage in order to create a gloomy effect, but the bit of sun that did show through created a nice essence of natural light, allowing me to use the perfect balance of lighting.

Equipment

This was simply taken with my Nikon D3200, aperture set to f/36, ISO 200, and exposure 1/40.

Inspiration

Wandering through new areas, I was particularly inspired by the rusting building, and this door sitting too far high from the ground to be reached. It was alone and unnoticed, crying quietly.

Editing

For this particular photo, post-processing wasn't necessary. The sunshade and colors were enough to highlight the quiet beauty.

In my camera bag

I always carry an extra memory card, and battery, because you can never be too prepared and a snack, just in case you have to sit down and wait for the perfect moment of lighting.

Feedback

Look where no one else is. In those hidden corners, real beauty awaits.
