I was following a 6 week photocourse and as my final task i was told to make a portait. I had nevet tried that before so i googled a lot to find inspiration and then i found the picture "Aging Storm" by Jake Olson. Immidiately i dcided that i would try to make something like that with my old dad (85 years). It was great fun and to my great delight it started to snow when we came to the forest road. I think it adds to the mood in this picture.

Location
The photo was taken in an plantation near my home towwn. It was taken due to an asignment from a photoclass i followed. My assignment was to make a portraitphoto. As i never tried it before i searched the internet for inspiration and found "Aging Storm" by photographer Jake Olson. I made an appointment with my father and we went to the woods. When we arrived on location it began to snow wich, in my view, made the photo much better.Time
The photo was taken around 3 o'clock in the afternoon in february so the light was slowly disappearing.Lighting
Due to the low light i used my flash, youngnou YN568EXII.Equipment
I used my old Canon 50D with Canon lens EFS 17-55. Exif: ISO 400, 55mm, f/2.8, 1/400secInspiration
I was following a photo evening class and as an assignment i should make a portrait. As i never tried it before i searched the internet for inspiration and found "Aging Storm" by photographer Jake Olson. I searched for a location with a long stretch of road in an rural invironment and found it in a plantation not far from where i live. Then i made an appointment with my father and we went to the woods. When we arrived on location it began to snow wich, in my view, made the photo much better.Editing
I made a lot of postprocessing in Lightroom to make it look like Jake Olsons photo. I also had to darken the sky.In my camera bag
As i do not have fullframe i use my EFS 17-55mm, f/2.8 a lot. I also have Sigma 8-16mm 1:4.5-5.6 wideangle. Great for use in nature with small objekts in the foreground. I use a Canon 100-400mm for both nature and wildlife shots.Feedback
My advice for others is to go out in the nature no matter what the weather is like. Off course it is more challenging but it also often creates more interesting photos.
