This photo was taken in November of 2015 at the famous Bonaventure Cemetery. Bonaventure Cemetery is a public cemetery located on a scenic bluff of the Wilmington River, east of Savannah, Georgia. The cemetery became famous when it was featured in the 1994 novel "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" by John Berendt, and in the movie, directed by Clint Eastwood, based on the book. It is the largest of the city's municipal cemeteries, containing nearly 160 acres,
Bonaventure Cemetery is one of the most visited locations in and around historic Savannah. The grounds are widely considered to be one of the most beautiful cemeteries in all of our country. The old growth oaks covered in Spanish Moss and the Victorian grave markers contribute to Bonaventure's beauty. You will walk down dusty lanes, the dead buried on either side of you. It can be overwhelming at times. The experience of spending time in Bonaventure Cemetery has brought many people to tears. It is a very spiritual experience.
