Behind The Lens

Location

Aur, Aur Atoll, Marshall Islands

Time

Evening Sunset

Lighting

Nothing beats the sun.

Equipment

Canon 60D; Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens

Inspiration

Every evening you could walk out onto the beach for a dazzling sunset display. But some days the clouds roll across the sky differently, and the light show which illuminates them is truly breath-taking. I was there for maybe a minute before local motored his boat across the lagoon. I waited until the composition was just right, click; and there you have it.

Editing

I may have adjusted the contrast just a touch, but if I recall, this shot was very much, "what you see is what you get." You can't fix perfection.

In my camera bag

I'm a poor photographer. I usually have only two lenses at any given time. Unfortunately, I've sold the lens I used to take this shot so I could upgrade my camera body to a 6D. Now I only carry a Canon 50mm f1.4, and a Canon 35mm f1.4. They're beautiful lenses, but I wish I could pick up a couple wide angle lenses.

Feedback

Follow the light. There's always a show to be seen. Especially when it comes from the center of our solar system.
