Behind The Lens

Location

Wreck beach along The Great Ocean Road in south west Victoria Australia.

Time

This was taken mid afternoon. The sun off the water and sand was blinding!

Lighting

A moderate amount of post processing in Lightroom was required.

Equipment

Canon 7d mk2 Sigma 10-20@10mm Manfrotto tripod.

Inspiration

Really enjoy exploring different angles and perspectives while shooting to capture something unique. I wanted to show the viewer the texture of the anchor and to have it as an interesting foreground subject. Afterall its called Wreck Beach for a reason.

Editing

Basic Lightroom adjustments. Mainly exposure because of the harsh lighting conditions of such a sunny day. Minor cropping to position the anchor where I wanted it.

In my camera bag

Generally speaking I buy the best quality gear I can afford but i research throughly beforehand to ensure it will be apporiate. A sturdy tripod was essential for this shot. I was literally being sand blasted while on the beach that day. A lens pen is a must for keeping my glass clean.

Feedback

I always experiment with different camera settings because it's difficult to see on an lcd screen. Learn how to read the histogram to capture a correct exposure.
