Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Marina di Pietrasanta, a small sea town in Italy.

Time

It was winter, there you have sunset at around 5.30. I remember the wind was blowing really hard, but the temperature was quite warm though.

Lighting

Just the setting sun!

Equipment

I shot this with a Nikon D-3200 and a Nikkor 18-55.

Inspiration

Winter sunsets on a deserted beach...that's enough I guess.

Editing

Just basic correction of white balance, add some contrast and opened the shadows a bit.

In my camera bag

I started shooting with a dslr not so long ago so I only own a Nikon D-3200 and a couple of lenses, apart from that, since I really enjoy experimenting with long exposures, I always have a tripod in the back of my car.

Feedback

I remember I stood in the very same position for a long time because I wanted to capture the moment when the sun was in line with the end of the pier, so at first I worked on the composition and then I waited until the sun was in the right position. The only advice I can give is to know what you want and to be patient enough to get it!
