Location
This photo is taken in the Iowa State Capitol, specifically it's in the Law Library. Our Capitol is probably the best looking Capitol in the country, it is truly beautiful inside and out. It's located in downtown Des Moines.Time
This was taken on a Saturday mooring. It's not a busy time for the Capitol as most of the staff is gone so it makes it a perfect time for photography.Lighting
I just used the light that was available in the room. Sometimes you just have to work with what you got and make the best of it.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7200 with a Nikkon 12-24 f4 lens. I used a tripod and a trigger remote for best quality and to be able to shoot slow enough in order to gather enough light to the sensor for the best exposure.Inspiration
The room itself inspired me to take this photo. As a photographer when you walk into a place like this all you want to do is photograph it.Editing
I used Lightroom and Photomatix to put 2 different exposures together to get this final image. In my camera bag
I normally have my D810, and two must have lenses are 70-200 f2.8 and the 18-35 for the wide shots.Feedback
Yes bring a wide angle lens, tripod and a remote trigger and just experiment with different exposures and angles until you get exactly what you are after.
