This was shot on Technical Pan, developed for continuous tone. It gave 35mm film the look of medium format, not truly noticed until enlarged to at least 24x36, when you could marvel about seeing the pattern of her hosiery as each fiber twisted in and out, clearly visible. The resolving power of Technical Pan was unfathomable.

Sally was uncommonly beautiful and I suppose I wa an emulsion tester. With a strong magnifying glass, you could see the weave of the hose.

Location
Taken at my home studio in Florida before anyone dreamt of digital. Shot via a Nikon F2, MD2 Motor Drive, MB-1 Battery Pack. EI 8.Time
Early afternoon. Air conditioning.Lighting
Soft lighting. Super sharp film and Nikkor lens. What is interesting is when blown up to 24x36 inches or using a high power loupe, you could easily see the weave of the model's hose. Resolving power of this film eclipses most things digital. Remember, we always light back to front.Equipment
Nikon F2 Photomic, MD2 Drive, 105mm lens.About 6 pounds. Handheld. Speedotron strobes, soft boxes. Kodak Technical Pan Film. EI 8. Pseudo Drum scanner. Tuned EPSON 9600 Full temperature control, including wash water. In south Florida. Film scanned on a Flextight Precision which cost like a car. Remember, a lightweight camera is a sin. It cannot be handheld properly.Inspiration
I inspired myself, mostly. Just another day at the studio. I did like the French New Wave in Photography.Editing
Some digital retouching on the hair part, the shoes, the dress. It truly helped to start out retouching with a 000 Brush with paint on prints. In my camera bag
These days, MAIN BAG: a 17-35, 20, 24, 24-70, 28, 35, 55 micro, 85, 105, 180mm lenses. Extension rings. Lots of filters. 2-4 D bodies with motor drives, handheld meter, a spot meter, color meter, lots of chips. Often, a fluid head. A Mac Powerbook. There are 2-6 more bags.Feedback
Build a studio with a grid. Get pro strobes. Get a film camera. Get and learn an incident strobe meter. Seek film manufacturers or Freestyle. Learn to process film. Learn to scan. Decent scanners are cheap today. Or seek a 45+ MP digital and pray. A lot. Technical Pan is more like 300-500MP. Good to great glass is key.
