Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken outside the scuba diving shop I managed. We had a garden that I took care of and I loved trying to take macro photos of plants.

Time

This is one of my favorite photos. I had gone to work around 9am. There was fog swirling around and the sun was just coming over the mountain. I was trying to capture the sparkle of the dew on the leaves. Honestly this photo turned out so much better than I had expected.

Lighting

I wanted this image to sparkle. I was trying to use the rising sun light to capture the twinkle of the individual water droplets for that magical feeling.

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon Power shot SD1300. No other equiptment was used

Inspiration

I love taking photos. At the time this photo was taken I was very interested in taking macro photos. I like trying to bring out minute details that would otherwise not be seen. The early morning sunrise along with the dew on all the plants made me want to try and capture the spirit of the morning.

Editing

I did not do any post processing. As a part time amateur photographer I try to take photos that I don't have to do any processing on. For me the challenge is to take a photo that I am happy with without having to manipulate it after the fact.

In my camera bag

As an amateur photographer I rely mostly on my Canon Power shot. I carry it with me everywhere. I have also been known to use my Samsung galaxy tablet for a photo or two.

Feedback

Every part of the day has it's own challenges. Be patient. Sunrise and sunset give you a limited amount of time to take advantage of the lighting. Take multiple photos, from multiple angles to capture something amazing. My advice would be to play with settings and see what magic you can make happen.
