Location
In Lancaster, Ohio on the corner of Main St. and High St.Time
It was almost exactly 4 in the morning. It was obviously dark, and incredibly cold, but so worth it!Lighting
The lighting was awful. Night time, full clowd cover.Equipment
I shot this was my Canon T6s with my 50mm STM at f1.8. I also used a tripod that froze and, in trying to close it, broke.Inspiration
I was up quite late working on some photos I'd taken and I glanced out the windows to notice to things: beautiful snow and the absence of vehicles. I dreaded the 1/2 mile hike to this location, but I knew that I had to have this particular shot. I'd covered an event the previous year and had taken a shot from this exact spot, and thought that it'd be wonderful in these conditions.Editing
I really didn't touch the original RAW file all too much, other than changing it to B&W. I knocked down the highlights partially, and lightly raised the contrast, all in Adobe Lightroom. In my camera bag
Aside from my camera, I always have my nifty-fifty (Canon 50mm f1.8 STM). It's my absolute favorite lens that I own. I have a Canon BG-E18 battery grip on the camera as well. I also have a Canon 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS STM and Canon 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS STM. I also have a Minolta SLR with a 45mm lens and a 50mm lens. I also keep two Yongnuo YN-560 III's and a matching trigger. I lastly keep my cards extra batteries, and a small first aid kit, which is often more handy than anything else, and I consider it a necessity.Feedback
Just remember to always keep your eyes and mind open to every opportunity presented to you. I'm still a young, and relatively inexperienced photographer, but it's shots like these that show people who you really are as a photographer, and what you could be. Don't ever passed it up when you think you might have a good shot like this. I was exhausted and totally worn out, but I knew I needed this shot. Never, ever think that you can't gets shots like this or better. There are shots like this everywhere you go, you just have to find them, and utilize them and harness your own creativity to make it an incredible photo.
