The day we marched to parliament during the 'Fees must fall' protests last year November. It was an unexpected turn of events as students arrived in masses and soon got through the gates only to be met by the police in full force riot gear. The situation turned violent as hundreds of mostly peaceful students were dispersed with stun grenades. This was the first of many serious clashes that are still continuing today. The 'Fees must Fall' movenment has become a wake up call to deep inequalities that our country still faces after some 22 years years of 'freedom'.
