The Temple of Poseidon at Sounion. At Cape Sounion, the Athenians built a sanctuary surrounded by a wall. The sanctuary consisted of temples dedicated to the gods of the city. The principal temple was dedicated to Poseidon, the god of the sea. This is a Doric temple and is the only temple which has been preserved until today. Poseidon visited home few days ago.
