Behind The Lens

Location

We wanted somewhere where Anna could run around and burn off some energy so we chose Mingus Park in Coos Bay, OR. There were ducks to feed and plenty of space to keep her entertained.

Time

We waited until after her nap time so we took these around 3pm.

Lighting

We were lucky it wasn't a very sunny day. We debated on rescheduling because there was a chance of rain. It ended up being warm and overcast which worked out good for her fair skin.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D3200 and a basic 18-55mm kit lens. Nothing super fancy.

Inspiration

This was my first cake smash session so I just held that button down and kept shooting. She was very easy to photograph and to work with. She had great facial expressions and this actually was her first experience with cake.

Editing

I did some minor color adjustments in Lightroom but nothing over the top. Just brightened it up a bit.

In my camera bag

My Nikon D3200, 18-55mm lens, a polar filter and that's usually it.

Feedback

Just be patient. Little ones can be hard to work with so having patience is key. Mom may get frustrated if their child isn't cooperating so reassure them that it's okay and there is no rush. Keep shooting and always be on your toes. Little ones are very unpredictable and can do some pretty funny things.
