Location
I have backpacked into the Grand Canyon over 60 times. It was mid-morning; I was about 1.5 miles down the South Kaibab Trail durning a temperature inversion. That means the canyon fills with clouds.Time
About mid-morning the clouds start to break. I was now under the invasion.Lighting
This is 100% natural light. The clouds break and the shadows form on the canyon walls.Equipment
Durning a backpacking trip my equipment is kept to a minimum. Space and weight are limited. Just a point and shoot, fixed lens camera.Inspiration
The inspiration was actually the unusual cloud cover. Not often do I get under the inversion.Editing
No post-processing was necessary. The canyon is a PERFECT SUBJECT!In my camera bag
Backpacking has limitations: Space and Weight. A good quality fixed lens is the best (my opinion).Feedback
When hiking in my favorite spot, (THE GRAND CANYON), I take many pictures. The view changes constantly. Almost with every step. Luck is a big factor. I looked up, the clouds moved, shadows and color changed. I always say a great picture is being in the right place with a camera in your hand.
