False Widow Spider (Steatoda Noblis) Now widespread across the South of England.
These venomous spiders which on occasion can and do bite humans with painful effect, allegedly first arrived here through the port of Plymouth in the 1870's within shipments of Bananas from the Canary Islands and Madeira they have thrived well in our climate becoming more ubiquitous ever since.
