I have been sitting on this image for a very long time because it is one of my all time favorites. I found this comp on a very rainy, foggy morning last year while in Iceland. We were hoping to get a certain shot of a certain mountain closeby, but the weather was not cooperating and the mountain was not visible due to the low clouds. So I decided to visit this gorge that I had found on my previous trip. We hiked up to the entrance and this low fog was looking awesome. All of the plants were dewy and wet and I went down to this small stream and found this beautiful composition. It is a fairly simple shot, but I love the natural symmetry in it. The mountains up top are split right down the middle where the water is coming out of the gorge, then you have the stream that comes down on both sides and merges together leading out of the bottom of the frame, making for an awesome leading line as well. When I create images like this, I tend to hold on to them for a while because I'm scared that viewers wont appreciate them as much as I do and my excitement and love for them might be lessened.

The internet can be a harsh critic. Through my eyes this is a fantastic composition and definitely works really well. It draws you in. Can I just say how refreshing it is to see a different landscape of Iceland. Have to admit I thought it was Scotland on first glance. Great work Eric.

Thank you so much, Mark, for the inspiring and wonderful complement. I was really excited when I took this image for just that reason, because you really cant tell where it is that I took it. On my most recent trip to Iceland I was determined to bring back some really unique shots and perspectives that people wouldnt have seen before. I agree, it could be in Scotland, I have been to Scotland as well and I love it. I feel like it could also be Hawaii or somewhere a bit tropical even.

Your very welcome! Thats what we're here for, to interact with each others work, although some people do have a hidden agenda and use this site as a platform for their own self purpose. Enough of that I'm not about to start an internet debate. I really like this photograph for the reason that it is different than the usual landmarks photographed in Iceland - Jokulsarlon, Gulfoss, Kirkufell. Every angle has been covered in every type of weather scenario. Your brief to bring back something different has worked well and I am really looking forward to seeing more your work in the future!
